Final Final PlayJournal

It’s been a year since I started developing games, and the quarter nearly ends before I even notice it. It is an incredible quarter for me, and it is such a unique experience that we spend a lot of time developing multiplayer games remotely.

Multiplatform

I’ve developed games that treat zoom and discord as a game platform. They are not platforms that design for games, but they teach me many lessons about game development. I think the reason for that is we are abstracting the game itself from all those fancy graphic effects, and truly think of how to design an interesting multiplayer game base on what we have.

Discord bot and Puzzle Game

I don’t know why it is happening I made 2 puzzle games out of 3 discord bot projects, and also a lot of people in the class also choose to add some mysterious element to their discord bot. The reason for that, I think, is discord is an online public place where people communicate, and that’s exactly how urban myths spread.

However, I made two attempts at making a puzzle game this quarter, and they are really educational. I learned a lot about leading players through hints and progress, and I think these are useful experiences that can be applied to many other game genres.

Conclusion

There is a lot to talk about, but I think it feels great that I took Patrick’s class again after a year. It gives me a chance to reflect on what I accomplished after a year of game development. I just want to thank everyone in the class who did so many incredible works that inspired me a lot.
